Josh White and the North Texas basketball team outgunned UT Arlington in a 101-99 double-overtime thriller on Wednesday night, and now must turn their attention to Gallagher-Iba Arena and the Cowboys of Oklahoma State. White poured in a career-high 35 points and ranks fifth in the nation in scoring average on the young season. The game is being televised by the Cowboy Sports Network, and will be shown nationally on Fox Sports Plus (DirecTV 677, Dish Network 451).  

In just about every way imaginable, North Texas' game against Army today will be a study in contrasting styles. The Mean Green's offense is all about the flash and dash with its spread formation that emphasizes getting its athletes into space where they can make plays. There might not be a more polar opposite than Army, a team that uses a disciplined triple-option attack to slowly grind out yards and wear down opponents.

The top-seeded Florida International University volleyball team defeated North Texas, 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-15), on Thursday afternoon in the Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship quarterfinals at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Ky. With the win the Panthers improve to 29-2 on the season and have now won 22 consecutive matches. The first set saw FIU jump out to a seven-point lead at 18-11 before three straight points by North Texas brought the Mean Green within four at 18-14. Senior Yarimar Ro  

DENTON, Texas (11/18/09) - Never had the chance to make it to a North Texas basketball practice at the Super Pit? What about actually getting inside the huddles and drills with Johnny Jones and the Mean Green? We wired up coach Jones at practice to show you what it's like.  

Head coach Mike Bozeman's young GW women's basketball team had held the lead for only 57 seconds all game in Tuesday's match-up at North Texas before 5-foot-3 freshman guard Danni Jackson hit two free throws to give the team a one-point lead with 1:25 to play. After the Mean Green tied it back up, sophomore center Sara Mostafa scored on her own put-back with 30 seconds left, only to have North Texas tie the score once again. University of North Texas students are letting their pride run wild in celebration of homecoming 2009.  

Lance Dunbar started to feel himself adjust midway through the second half of North Texas' game against Louisiana-Lafayette last week. The former Haltom standout was carrying the ball regularly while filling in for starter Cam Montgomery, and carrying the Mean Green's offense in the process. "I started to feel more confident," Dunbar said.

The North Texas women's golf team made up some ground Wednesday in the final round of the Price's Give "Em Five" Intercollegiate by shooting a collective 293 to finish 10th in the 18-team tournament. Overall the Mean Green shot a 907 for the tournament, which was a collective 43 shots over par. Sophomore Addison Long led the way for the Mean Green in the final round and shot a collegiate best 70 to finished the tournament as UNT'stop individual finisher (T-14th) with a 7-over 223.
